Medicine and healthcare aren't the only career fields that can allow you to help your fellow human beings for a living. If you're passionate about social justice and working to level the playing field for underserved groups and individuals, an online master's degree in social work (MSW) can prepare you to make a career out of empowering the less fortunate.
With an MSW, you may be able to apply your knowledge to fields of practice as diverse as child welfare, family counseling, criminal justice, mental health, medical care, student assistance and more. Whatever specific role you're hoping to fill, the right degree program in social work can help you gain the knowledge and skills you need to get started.
WHY IS ACCREDITATION IMPORTANT FOR AN MSW PROGRAM?
Attending an accredited MSW program is important because it helps determine if an institution has met or exceeded minimum standards of quality. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is the only organization that accredits MSW programs in the United States. Most states require students to earn a degree from an CSWE accredited institution before sitting for their license. As of February 2019, CSWE has accredited 269 master's social work programs.
