Lakehead Researcher Awarded CFI Funding: Laboratory upgrades foster research to protect Canada's waterways

Lakehead University researcher, Dr. David Law, has been awarded a Leaders Opportunity Fund valued at $171,621 by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). Funding will offset costs associated with upgrading equipment and aquatic facilities in the Lakehead University Aquatic Research Laboratory, where Dr. Law and his colleagues conduct research to help protect the health of Canadian waterways. RWU Receives $1 Million Federal Grant to Expand Center for Environmental and Economic Development

In an effort to help create jobs and boost Rhode Island's shell fishing industry, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) today announced that Roger Williams University will receive a $1 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce to expand the university's Center for Environmental and Economic Development (CEED). The federal funding will be used to upgrade the Center's existing sweater infrastructure, equip an expanded shellfish hatchery, and provide educational and research capacity to support continues growth of the regional aquaculture industry. Overall, the project is expected to help create 250 jobs. Read more...
